Lore
The Trolls are the oldest living people of the western shore. They make their homes in the sea-cliffs between Cape Harrow and the Gull Reaches, where they sleep for long seasons in the rock. A sleeping Troll grows a crust of lichen and barnacle, and for generations the fisherfolk of the coast took the great grey shapes on the headlands for boulders.
In the spring of the Saltborn landing, the Great Host came ashore at Harrow Sound and began to cut a road into the cliffs. The noise of their siege engines carried through the stone for three days and woke the Troll-kin of the whole cape. On the fourth night their elder, Grausk Seawall, led them down onto the beachhead. The Host lost eleven ships' companies before it fell back to the open water.
Trolls heal from wounds that would kill a man, and a Troll struck down in battle will often rise again before the field is cleared. They are slow to muster and slow to march, so their chieftains choose their wars with care. Since Harrow Sound the Troll-kin have stayed awake, and they guard the coast as their own.
