Each world has 13 realms. Each realm has 7 states, and each state holds up to 15 houses: 91 states and 1,365 houses in all.
Addresses
Every house has an address written realm:state:house, biggest first, all numbered from 1. House 4:2:1 is the first house in state 2 of realm 4. A state on its own is written 4:2.
Where new houses go
- You can ask for a particular state when you found your house. You get it if it has room. If it is full of people, the founding fails and you must pick another.
- If you ask for no state, the game puts you in the emptiest state, so states fill evenly. When several are equally empty, it picks one at random.
- When every state is full, the world is full.
- Robots make room. If the state you ask for is full but has robots in it, its weakest robot (least land, then least might) leaves and you take its seat. The same happens anywhere in the world when the whole world is full. A robot that leaves takes its land with it: the land is destroyed, not handed on. Its generals and academics go up for auction in the Hall of Deeds, and its statemates hear that it left. You start fresh, like any new house.
- Every new house, including a late joiner, starts under protection for 72 ticks.
The world's shape is part of each age's rules, so a later age can be larger or smaller. See the current age's numbers.
