The Throne is your home screen in Utopia. It shows your resources, your army, what has happened to your province, and any messages from the game staff or your monarch. Read it every time you log in.
In short
- The top bar shows your money, peasants, food, runes, networth and land. It stays visible on most pages.
- The province summary lists your race, ruler, land, resources, army and points.
- Recent news tells you who thieved, cast spells, attacked or sent aid since you last looked.
- Royal Commands are orders from your monarch. Check them at every login.
- Game Update carries messages from the Utopian Staff to everyone.
Top bar
The top bar shows your basic resources in one row: Money, Peasants, Food, Runes, Networth, Land and Networth per acre. You can see it on most pages, so you do not need to come back to the Throne to check how much gold you have or how many acres you own.
Money
Gold Coin (1gc or $1) is Utopian Currency, the base of Utopian Economics. Banks and population produce money, and some Races or Personalities can make some by casting Tree of Gold. Spend money on Exploration, Building, Training and Wages.
For more information on how gold, or gc, is calculated, check out Economy - Money in the Advanced section.
Peasants
Peasants are responsible for working and generating income for your province.
For more information on peasants, check out Economy - Population in the Advanced section.
Food
Food is a resource, and it is needed to keep population of a Province alive.
For more information on food, check out Food in the Advanced section.
Runes
Runes are the main resource used in Spell Casting. Towers generates additional runes per Utopian Day.
Networth
Networth is a nominal value in gold coins of a Province/Kingdom.
For more information on how networth is calculated, check out Networth in the Advanced section.
Land
Land is the main resource in Utopia. It is measured in acres. If a province doesn't have any land, the province doesn't exist.
Buildings are built on your land to house your population, grow food, and empower your military, mages, and thieves. You can check learn more about buildings in Growth.
Game time
Below the top bar is the game time, showing the current date in the Utopian time system, which is a bit different to ours. Each Utopian day is one real-life hour, each Utopian month is a real-life day, and each Utopian year is a real-life week. So there are 24 days in a month, 7 months in a year and normally around 12 years in an Age. The province summary also shows how long until the next tick.
Messages at the top
Game Update
The Utopian Staff sometimes use this box to give important messages to everyone in the game, for example a note that the server has switched time zone and the game now runs on Greenwich Mean Time. It can also link to articles about possible changes.
Royal Commands
The monarch of your kingdom uses this box to give information to everyone in the kingdom. For example, it may remind everyone to build up a strong defence, or name which targets to attack in war. Make sure you check it every time you log in.
Province summary
The main box gives most of the important details about your province. Its title shows your province name, its location in your kingdom, the date, and the time to the next tick. Below that are two columns.
Left column: your province
Race, Ruler, Land (in acres), Peasants, Build Eff. (building efficiency), Money (in gold coins), Food (in bushels), Runes, Trade Balance and Networth. See Race, Economy and Networth for what these mean.
Right column: your army
Your military units, such as Soldiers, Pikemen, Golems and War-Horses, plus Prisoners. Thieves and Wizards are shown with a percentage beside the number. The column ends with your Off. Points (offensive points) and Def Points (defensive points), which sum up your strength for attacking and defending. Units and their roles are covered in Military.
War and dragon notices
Below the summary the Throne can show a notice such as "Our Kingdom is at WAR!" or a message about a dragon ravaging the lands. These are alerts about your kingdom, not settings you can change.
Active spells
An Info box lists the spells currently running on your province, with the number of days each has left. See Mystics for spells.
Recent news
The Recent News box lists events that have happened to your province since you last looked at your Throne. Each entry has a date and a line of text. Entries include:
- Enemy attempts at thievery operations, or spells cast on you. A failed attempt is reported as a possible attempt or as trouble in your lands.
- Attacks made against you, with the acres lost and the units and peasants you lost.
- Natural events, such as storms ravaging your lands.
- Aid you have received from kingdom mates, such as a shipment of runes.
Use "See all news" at the bottom to read older entries.
